Exercise With Hip Hop Dance Moves


Yes it's true, hip hop dancing is a great form of exercise. Dancing has been a popular form of exercise for many years now however hip hop dance is relatively new in this game.

So what can you expect from starting hip hop dance lessons in your town?

A Typical Hip Hop Dance Class


      

Most hip hop dance classes will begin with a warmup of some sort. This may include some basic hip hop dance moves and grooves. It is also likely to involve quite a few stretching exercises at the start.

After doing these stretching exercises for several weeks or months you'll probably find that you can get a better stretch and are a bit more flexible than you were before you started doing these exercises.

If to become more flexible is a goal of yours there are also many jazz class and stretching and limbering classes that cater specifically to this.

Now once the warmup has been completed you will probably go on to learn a hip hop dance routine of some sort.

At first the teacher will go quite slowly (especially if it's a beginners class). Once you've done a move or a section of the choreography several times they'll probably start to speed it up gradually.

Then at certain points they will put the music on by which point you may get a slight shock! Often the music part is when the music gets much faster and when you get the most high intensity workout.

Different teachers work things differently. Some may choose to go with a relatively slow song for much of the class to become familiar with the routine. They will then dance with the actual much faster song at the end.

Other teachers you encounter will like to work with the actual song from the beginning (perhaps because the routine is specific to a song) and so there will be a lot of high-tempo dancing going on.

It is a very good workout and you'll find it hard to keep your clothes dry. Especially when you're in a class with ten or twenty other dancers in a hot sweaty room!
